Monster Maze


This week our goal was to build a level that makes the most of the mechanics the player has access to, which is currently running and jumping. In making this level, I had to answer the following questions:

  • Why is the player there?
    • The player has been following a monster and chased it into this dungeon.
  • What is the player's goal?
    • Their goal is to navigate the maze to the end where the monster's den is.
  • Where is the start and the end of the level?
    • The start of the level is roughly in the center of the maze, that way it feels more complex than moving in one direction towards the end. I made sure to put the end of the maze after a lot of junctions so it wouldn't be too simple to find.
  • What obstacles will the player have to overcome?
    • The most common obstacles are the junctions, where the player will have to decide which way to check to try and find the end. I also included some parkour sections where the player will have to test their skills at controlling the character by maneuvering up to a higher part of the level.
